Today I Love…{New York}

My mind is in vacation mode (even though a summer vacay is off the itinerary for me this year), which means I can’t help longing for my second love New York City. This feel good time lapse video calms even the toughest of withdrawls…

I Think I Wanna Marry You

First things first…I love big gestures, surprises, generally anything that took thought or effort. This applies to almost any situation. It most definitely applies to proposals. I think my obsession love with this idea is also because I happen to think I am personally very difficult to surprise. But I digress….

Today as I was checking my email a sidebar flashed a news story from the Huffington Post about a flash mob proposal at Downtown Disney in Orlando, FL. I thought that sounded pretty cool so I figured I would click over to the page and check it out. Ironically enough, I am not typically a fan of large, in public displays but this proposal I found today had me eating my words.

Jamin arranged a flash mob dance to the tune of Bruno Mars’ “I Think I Wanna Marry You” to surprise his girlfriend of over 5 years. Now I love me some Bruno (best Glee episode ever?) and I can’t help but smile every time I hear that song – but this one put me over the edge. Watching this video… I had chills. And I cried. Like a little girl. Multiple times. Actually I played it three times in a row and clicked around you tube to find other versions of it from onlookers. It was just that good.  I even felt my heart start racing when the footage in the insert showed Jamin getting nervous before he jumped in. I know…I’m crazy…but this was amazing. See for your self:

Any fellas looking to take the next step – take note. This one is a winner. I’m going to go hit play again…one more time can’t hurt right?

It’s Gonna Be A Good Life

Last month I had the pleasure of coordinating a wedding at Villa Woodbine for the fantastic Amanda and Joseph Sabina. The ceremony was at Plymouth Congregational Church in Coconut Grove and the reception held at Villa Woodbine. Despite a downpour of rain the day before (which caused some wicked humidity) the event went off without a hitch. Check out the teaser video below from the videographer duo Artistic Film Productions below (they also did another wedding in April with me, hopefully that clip will be coming soon).

The evening was fantastic, even with a few hiccups including a last minute exterminator being called in and an ambulance visit during the reception! These events, fortunately, did not damper the party and the night went on with a surprise performance by Fat Joe even! This was my first time working with a “celebrity” and it was a really enjoyable time. The couple made their grand exit under a showering of sparklers into their beautiful supped up Lincoln Town Car.

I really had a great time working with all of the vendors and staff, the couple was so wonderful to work with! I wish every client could be like that! Congratulations to Amanda and Joe!

The cooky kind of fun

I know I source Style Me Pretty basically ALL the time, and I swear I will one day show you something else (ha), but this I just could not pass up!!!!!! I love quirky people. I love quirky passions. I love quirky weddings. The following event is the golden trifecta! Ben and Amanda got married on a lake in Michigan in July. It’s splendid. Check this out:

You’re probably thinking, Leah this isn’t quirky. It’s a summer wedding. There are mason jars. White flowers and wooden signs. This is pretty standard. Just you wait….

Um HI!!!!!! Did you see the wakeboarding couple?!?! I LOVE IT!! Style me pretty also links to a fantastic video of their wedding done by Epic Motion. It has some great clips of the couple on the skis with their entire bridal party in the tow boat.  If I was a skilled and seasoned blogger (I’m getting there), I would embed it into my post, but hey I’m working on it. Check it out yourself here: Amanda and Ben. Do It.
